Western Dressage
Western Dressage is a horse show discipline that uses set patterns that follow a training steps from very basic (walk/jog) through intermediate levels to more advanced. As members progress, they and their horses will learn more skills and advance their training.
Who Can do It?
Western Dressage is open to all levels of members and horses. Members pick the level and pattern that is best suited their and their horse’s skills and experience.
When Does it Meet?
There are 3 Shows per year Fall/Winter, Spring & Summer. You may also participate in Western Dressage at the fair if you have attended at least one 4-H Western Dressage show during the year.
Shows are held at various facilities in Snohomish and North King Counties.
How Western Dressage is Judged
Judging is done by a knowledgeable dressage judge using WDAA score sheets. Each element of the test will receive a score from 0-10 as well as comments. The scores are added and then divided by the total points possible to determine the percentage score. The percentage scores are used to determine placings. Danish ribbons are awarded according to a point schedule. Placing are awarded 1st – 8th.
