Dressage

Dressage is where the horse and rider perform a memorized pattern of predetermined movements called “Tests.” These Tests are determined by the United States Dressage Federation and change every three years. They are a progressive set of levels from beginner to advanced.

Attire is typically white breeches and a conservative color coat.  In 4-H hunt seat attire is allowed.

Dressage Tests
Current tests are effective 12/1/2022 until 11/30/2026:

How Dressage is Judged
Each set of movements is given an individual score. You are allowed two tests per show. At the end of each test, all of the scores are added up for a final percentage.

Rules
4-H rules are included in the PNW Reference Guide and the Snohomish County Horse Program Reference Guide.  The USDF rules are used if the Guides do not speak to a specific question.

Shows
There are usually three shows per year at varying locations plus fair.
